My husband was in a serious car crash. He was T-boned on the driver's side and had to be cut from the car. He requested the ambulance to take him to St. Vincent's Clay.
When I was shown back to his room, I met his current nurse, Chiara. As a former St. Vincent's nurse, I could tell that Chiara was going above and beyond in taking care of D's needs. She flushed out his eyes because of the airbag deploying and reddening them, forcibly flushed out the numerous cuts from shattered auto glass cutting D's arm and face, repeatedly attempted to stop a couple of puncture wounds from bleeding and personally picked many pieces of glass off his body and out of his hair. It was Chiara who quickly got pain medication on board as soon as the doctor ordered it. She soon caught on that we have an over-developed sense of humor and she surprised us by playing along and actually making us laugh! It sounds strange, but we really enjoyed our time in the Emergency Room with Chiara around. When D was discharged, Chiara walked us out to the car. We felt like we'd spent the evening with a friend. We would like to thank Chiara for her healing help, her timely medicinal care, and for her humor. Kudos, Chiara, for embodying St. Vincent's core values.
