My husband had been in the ICU for several days, and it was clear that he would not be getting better. Cheryl was his day nurse for the last two days and took care of his family's needs. She found the time to converse about anything and everything, even to take us "totally away" from the topic of my husband's condition and the immense decision at hand. She listened intently to what we had to say and answered our questions thoughtfully. She helped us through making the choice to let him pass comfortably and told us what would be happening every step of the way. She held my husband's hand as he affirmed the choice we had made. Not only did Cheryl quietly and competently perform her nursing skills, but she also provided mental and moral support for him and the family. When we all gathered in his room for his final hours, Cheryl made sure we had what we needed. A unique and memorable caregiver, indeed. Even a better person!
