Her compassionate care, empathy, and kindness were consistently demonstrated through emotional support and exceptional medical care.
My husband, H, and I would like to nominate Nurse Cheryl for her outstanding dedication, compassion, and professionalism. While at Mayo Clinic Hospital, she cared for my husband during a difficult and trying time for both of us. Everything we observed about Cheryl went above and beyond the true spirit of nursing through selfless service and dedication, even though her shift was busy. She consistently maintained high standards of safety and quality by ensuring all IVs were in place and functioning properly, and by wiping all areas of the room with cleansing wipes. Her compassionate care, empathy, and kindness were consistently demonstrated through emotional support and exceptional medical care. This included a reassuring shoulder squeeze, warmhearted eye-to-eye contact, fluffing a pillow, or offering a cup of coffee. She always made sure that H was not in any discomfort, even before having to ask for help. Cheryl demonstrated professionalism, ensuring my husband felt respected and valued. She always followed through with any request that we had. Cheryl's small act of care, empathy, and kindness helped remind us that healing is not just physical, but emotional, too. She made a profound impact on us.

I had been admitted to Mayo through the ED. I was being evaluated for an emergency bowel blockage and surgery. Cheryl was so wonderful as she explained having to restart IV and not being able to eat. She also understood that I was apprehensive, and she would stay and allow the connection even though I knew she was very busy. Cheryl is incredibly competent and, more importantly, a kind, caring, and very intuitive nurse. I cannot express how much her care meant to me.
