August 2026 Honoree
Chemaine Osterbind, RN
My son was burned in a work-related incident. His first surgery was after spending the night in the ED, and this mama heart had all the nerves going into surgery.
Chemaine Osterbind was amazing. They reassured me he was in good hands. We have a family history of Malignant Hyperthermia too. They talked to my son, his girlfriend, and me so softly. We had a few laughs, which lightened the whole situation.
Once he was wheeled to the OR, Chemaine reassured us and said they would give us updates. And they did.
Waiting is so hard, but they were so sweet and thoughtful. We went back to the OR a few days later for a second surgery, and I was just tickled when I saw this nurse again. I felt like I had a friend there, even though we had only met the week before for a few minutes. They got my son prepped, and off we went. I was nowhere near as nervous about the surgery as the week before. I credit a lot of that to Chemaine. They are a fantastic nurse.
