In those 5 minutes, Chasity had cleaned all of Dad's stuff off the tables and chairs and had the place ready for our invasion.
My father-in-law was in the hospital for two weeks. On day 13, he rallied, and on the evening of day 13, he took a turn for the worse. Chasity came into his room right at shift change, and he announced he would be dying that night. We had all gone home, and Chasity said, “Okay.” She got him ready, then spent some time with him talking about heaven and praying with him. She was such a blessing. At midnight, his oxygen plummeted, and he asked for his kids. She promptly called the family P-I-C, who was 5 minutes away. In those 5 minutes, Chasity had cleaned all of Dad's stuff off the tables and chairs and had the place ready for our invasion. She explained in detail what occurred and what she was doing, but he rallied. Then she came in later and told us he had mentioned a grandson he hadn't seen yet, and maybe he was holding out to see him. My husband and I were at odds about calling him, but her suggestion gave me the green light to call him. After talking to his grandfather, he decided to drive from Columbus at 3 in the morning. Her quick thinking to increase dad's oxygen kept him alive, and my son made it safely, in plenty of time. It meant the world to my son and us for him to be able to talk to his grandfather while he was lucid. Chasity was an angel to us all that night. She even ordered snacks for us, which we needed as we didn't head to hospice until 8 pm the next day. Thank you, Chasity, so much.
