My grandfather was dying when Charmaine was assigned as his RN upon entering the MICU. Charmaine was a delicate, thorough, and thoughtful RN during our short stay with her. She brought a sense of peace to the sadness we had in the room. She patiently waited until all of our family members were present before withdrawing care, and when it was time, she communicated effectively and efficiently about what she was doing and why. She took it upon herself to bring extra chairs so more family members could sit, which we really appreciated. Lastly, she printed a few keepsakes of my grandfather’s rhythm strip and placed them in little bottles with string. To me, they look like ornaments we can place on our Christmas trees, which will be hard this year without my grandfather. So thank you so much for treating my grandfather and family with such kindness and compassion during this difficult time. You probably won’t remember us, and we don’t blame you, but we will always remember you and the heart you showed us. Thank you for keeping the heart in adult medicine alive, which is often lost; you are magnificent!

Thank you, Charmaine, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
