Nomination 1:

During my first stay in maternity, I was so worried about my baby because I was having so much pain at 37 weeks pregnant. I have an anxiety disorder, and it was worrying me to the point of having an anxiety attack during my MRI scan. When I got back to the ward, Lottie was absolutely the best, making sure I felt better, which I really, really needed because I was then worried about stressing my baby out.

I ended up being discharged but came back two days later to be induced, and I was in Lottie’s care again, to my relief.

I was adamant that I wasn’t having a C-section (my nightmare birth) as it really freaked me out, but I ended up needing an emergency one anyway. After that, I had daily and nightly panic attacks while staying in the ward because my baby was jaundiced, and I was terrified of my incision ripping open or becoming infected.

Lottie made sure to check my wound every single time and ensured that I was comfortable and had absolutely everything I needed. This even included giving me personal space when I was hysterical, which I really appreciated, because once I’m triggered, it’s almost impossible to calm me down. Lottie had no issues making sure I was okay, and I slept well each time.

She is so kind and thoughtful and never makes patients feel rushed. The NHS needs more midwives and nurses like Lottie.

Nomination 2:

My partner came in two weeks prior, in a lot of pain, and she had to stay in the ward for a week. It was a really stressful and uncertain time in the pregnancy, and Lottie made her feel so comfortable and eased her anxiety immensely.

The way she spoke to her and treated her was just amazing.. I’m extremely grateful for Lottie. She’s super professional, caring, and just great at her job. I’m very glad she was there.

We left for one weekend and came back the following week, right up to the birth date, and again, Lottie was just brilliant. She worked a mix of days and nights, helping her feel comfortable and safe. She always checked on her when she had time, offered advice, and generally made the whole process far less stressful.

I would recommend Lottie to anyone; she stood out above everyone.
