Our daughter was born with a heart defect. She spent the first 6 months of her life in the CICU at Children’s and has had multiple admissions to the CICU since then. We met Chance during a 3-week hospital stay.

Our daughter was intubated for 10 days during that admission, and Chance gave our daughter exceptional care. His compassion and attention to detail were excellent. He was compassionate and loving to our daughter, my wife, and me. Our daughter was hospitalized again and remained in the CICU for 4 months. Throughout that admission, Chance was our daughter’s nurse multiple times.

Our daughter always gave Chance a run for his money and worked him like crazy as she was very sick. Chance worked tirelessly day in and day out when he took care of her. He always used critical thinking skills and advocated for our daughter. Her comfort was his first priority. I rarely saw him sitting down, and he did it all with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He always made sure my wife and I were doing well, and he went out of his way to provide anything we needed.

There are too many examples and details to share about the excellent care and compassion Chance provided. There were times in our stay that our daughter was very sick and required multiple interventions; it felt like he never left our room. He did all of this and multiple other things with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He also has a good sense of humor. My wife and I were always relieved when he was assigned to her.
