Chad Garner, MSN, RN
I am pleased to recognize Chad Garner, RN, for the extraordinary nursing care, clinical expertise, and compassion he demonstrates every day. Chad is one of those nurses who consistently makes a difference in the lives of patients, families, and his fellow coworkers.
Chad possesses an exceptional depth of knowledge and remains calm and focused during critical situations. When challenges arise or difficult problems need to be solved, he is always willing to step in, offer guidance, and support the team. Chad’s presence provides reassurance to both staff and patients alike.
What makes Chad truly special is that his care extends beyond the immediate clinical situation. He genuinely pays attention to the people around him and notices when someone may need support. About a year after my hip surgery, Chad observed that I was moving slowly and walking with a limp. He took the time to check on me, encourage me to stretch, and remind me to take care of myself. It was a simple gesture, but it demonstrated how much he cares about the well-being of those around him.
Chad has also cared for my daughter on multiple occasions as a surgical patient at HPH. My daughter has a complex medical history that includes a condition causing low blood pressure and an amplified pain response. During one of her recent surgeries, there were challenges related to managing her pain. Chad stepped in, educated and supported the staff, and advocated for appropriate pain management. His expertise, calm demeanor, and compassionate approach made a tremendous difference in her experience. My daughter was incredibly grateful for the care and support he provided.
Before my daughter's hysterectomy, I was experiencing significant anxiety and fear about the procedure. Chad took the time to talk with me, answer questions, and help me regain perspective. His calm reassurance brought me back to reality when I needed it most. As both a mother and a healthcare professional, I found tremendous comfort in his wisdom and guidance.
Chad’s impact reaches far beyond the bedside. He draws from a broad base of clinical knowledge and combines it with genuine compassion, emotional intelligence, and a servant-hearted approach to nursing. Chad provides care holistically not only to his patients, but also to coworkers, friends, and family members who look to him for support and guidance. I am reassured on many levels knowing that he is a nurse at HPH.
