Her commitment extended beyond the bedside. In the aftermath of the patient’s passing, her thoughtful debriefing, guidance on systemic improvements for the team, and kudos for her colleagues underscored her genuine concern for everyone involved.
I am honored to nominate Ms. Barbosa for the DAISY Award for her heroic efforts as a Rapid Response Team RN. She embodied extraordinary leadership, compassion, and expertise under the most challenging circumstances. Ms. Barbosa led the transfer to ICU for a patient in critical condition and remained at the bedside for the next five hours through the intubation and two lengthy code blue events. Ms. Barbosa rose to the occasion with courage and unwavering commitment to both the patient and the healthcare team.
Throughout the experience, Ms. Barbosa served as a guiding force on the unit, coordinating the swift, lifesaving interventions while maintaining clear, calm communication among physicians, respiratory therapists, and other nurses. Her ability to anticipate needs and organize essential tasks, even in high-pressure moments, provided structure and stability for everyone involved in the patient’s care. It was a symphony in the teamwork managed by a host of clinicians, all of whom shone and conducted themselves admirably towards a shared goal.

In every aspect of this difficult situation—leading resuscitation efforts, caring for a grieving family, and supporting her colleagues — Ms. Barbosa exemplified the highest standards of professional integrity, compassion, and clinical skill. It is with deep admiration and gratitude that I recommend her for the DAISY Award.
