Cecillia Hoglund, BSN

I am nominating Cecillia as she was the safety net we needed during a medical crisis in the ICU. She embodied every piece of the DAISY criteria in the following ways:
• Exceptional medical advocacy and process - She was the first one to care about the med list, validate our concerns, and answer all questions with professionalism and patience.
• Patient-Centered Focus and Communication – She maintained constant focus and checked in on both of us as humans, ensuring physical and emotional needs were met. Before leaving, she came into our room specifically to let us know her shift was concluding and to tell us it was a pleasure meeting us.
• Enthusiasm, Radiance, and Human Kindness – Nursing in an emergency setting is challenging yet she brought an infectious energy, a sense of humor and warm personality into the ICU room by sharing stories and allowing us to share our own made her feel intensely relatable, aiding worry away.
• Teamwork and Respect – It was clear she works well with all members of the healthcare team. The respect, acknowledgement, and appreciation she openly showed her colleagues created an environment that made us feel safe in her hands. She did not just treat low blood pressure and kidney stress; she treated our hearts.

She demonstrates the gold standard of what an outstanding, compassionate, expertly skilled nurse should be and deserves the DAISY Award.
