In those three weeks, she became family to us. I honestly don't know if we could have gotten through the whole NICU experience without her.
My son was born at 33 weeks and ended up in a three-week NICU stay. Almost every day, Nurse Cathy took on my son's case. She would sit and take care of us like family. Made my son O like her own. I didn't once question his health and safety when he was with her. She would talk to us like we were old friends. Made sure we knew everything he did or anything that changed. She would talk to him, which made it feel less like a hospital stay and more like someone visiting our son. She would work hard on helping him reach his goals and reassured us that no matter the setback, we would have our son home. I could have the worst day, and she would greet my husband and me with the warmest smile and a good joke to go along with it. In those three weeks, she became family to us. I honestly don't know if we could have gotten through the whole NICU experience without her. She kept our heads held high even when we couldn't. She doesn't work as a nurse just as a job but as a lifestyle. If anyone deserves a DAISY Award, it's Cathy. We are so grateful to her and always will be.
