My mother passed while in Georgetown's Saint David's ICU. During my mother's stay, we were surrounded by an incredible team of medical professionals ranging from doctors, physician assistants, registered nurses, speech therapists, and wound care specialists. The team was amazing, their willingness to provide a clear understanding of mom's health, answer our many questions, and address all of our concerns was most appreciated.

During our stay, there was one medical professional who stood out - Cathleen C. Her support was beyond incredible. Cathleen understood the challenge my mother was going through, and her ability to articulate her views to the family allowed us to make several difficult decisions, which ultimately led to comfort care and mom's passing. Cathleen stood by and supported the family the entire duration and responded to all of our questions and concerns. It was also recognized that Cathleen was a well-respected member of the ICU team and worked well with everyone, which helped reduce the stress. The DAISY Award requires honorees to meet specific criteria. In my opinion, Cathleen not only exceeded all of the criteria, but went over and beyond during her time with my mother. I cannot say thank you enough for all the wonderful care Cathleen and the ICU team provided during this most difficult time.
