This was my second C-section, both of which were under general anesthesia due to a previous spinal fusion. My nurse, Catherine, went above and beyond from the moment my surgery was done until we left the hospital. She made me feel so special when I woke up, even though the spinal block failing to work for a second time was disappointing. I have so much trauma from my back surgery that I was so nervous, and she eased my nerves. She came every day to check on us in the postpartum recovery room. She gave my little girl her first bath for me. She showed so much compassion and care for my baby but ALSO for me, and it made such a difference. She just felt like a light when I was struggling. I felt so loved by someone I had just met. I am 7 weeks postpartum now and think about her often.
