My mother had to have a procedure in radiology under CT guidance. She has considerable memory loss, and so I spent the morning explaining over and over what she was at Beebe for and what the procedure was. It can be quite exhausting! If it weren't for Catherine, my mom's nurse, I'm not sure we both would have gotten through it all. From the get-go, Catherine was professional, respectful, kind, and capable. She showed my mother the utmost respect, even when recognizing that whatever she said would just have to be repeated again and again. Never once did she appear annoyed, and she gave my mom her full attention while also completing all the necessary tasks to prep and recover her. She took the burden off of me, and I appreciated the break so much. Her experience and patience were what we both needed to get through the day. Catherine kept my mom calm through joking and casual conversation. She talked her through the CT part of the procedure, as my mom was anxious and claustrophobic. Catherine exemplifies what nursing is about, and Beebe is lucky to have someone who is so experienced and compassionate in their employ. Thank you, Catherine, for making an unpleasant situation actually pleasant!
