As a new nurse, Catherine helped me build my confidence and critical thinking a lot. She is always inspiring, empowering, and challenging me to boost my knowledge and improve patient care.
Catherine is an extraordinary ANM. She has so much knowledge about the unit and is always willing to jump in and help. She never fails to amaze me with all she is capable of doing to make sure not only we nurses are acknowledged but also that our patients are properly cared for. When training new relief charges, she goes above and beyond by becoming a bedside nurse and being a helpful resource to these relief charge nurses just so they can get the hands-on experience they need. I have learned so much from her over the past two years that I have been working on the unit. She is helpful at allowing you to critically think, especially since on nights there are not as many resources, and believe in yourself as a nurse. As we all know, sometimes, especially in intensive situations, we can feel overwhelmed. She is great at keeping situations under control, taking charge, and staying calm, which is so important. She has been a great resource and very reliable person in my nursing career I have learned so much from her. She always goes above and beyond and is a great example of the Norton Way!

Catherine is such an amazing leader; she always goes around to make sure everyone is okay with their assignments and asks if she can help with anything. As a leader, she has a lot of responsibilities and work, but she somehow finds the time to check on each staff member. She is passionate and so kind. Every day that I work with her, I get amazed by how smart and intelligent she is, how caring and passionate she is about what she does. She is so resilient and self-aware that I feel comfortable coming to her for anything, any questions or concerns I might have for my patients.

As a new nurse, she helped me build my confidence and critical thinking a lot. She is always inspiring, empowering, and challenging me to boost my knowledge and improve patient care. She always tells me how proud she is of me, and I don’t think she realizes how big of an impact those words have. It makes me want to be the best nurse I can for my patients and family. Regardless of the shift we’re having, because sometimes we have good shifts, sometimes we have emotional/difficult/ busy shifts, she is always so positive about everything and knows how to approach you regarding the situation you are in. She does not only advocate for patients, but she actively advocates for staff and stands up for them. She is what a true leader should look like, very professional yet very approachable and caring for her staff. Working on this unit is not easy, but somehow, she makes it so easy and bearable! She always has a smile on her face, no matter what. I want her to know how much she is appreciated as a leader, a Nurse, and a coworker.

Note: This is Catherine's 2nd DAISY Award!
