Cat stood firm and advocated for the safest and most appropriate steps that had to be done.
I got to witness Nurse Anderson act as the epitome of what it is to be a CHOP patient advocate. A patient arrived at the ED and was profoundly hemodynamically unstable. Cat advocated to make sure the patient was stabilized before being transported. The ED staff strongly pushed to have the team perform an emergency transport but Cat stood firm and advocated for the safest and most appropriate steps that had to be done. After making sure the patient's airway was secure she further advocated to make sure we were properly sedating the now intubated patient. Holding back on further paralytics until we could adequately sedate the patient. Cat was able to manage a profoundly sick patient, maintain a clear head, push for their best interest when the patient could not. Cat is an example for all of us.
