Cassie Strathman, RN

I would like to recognize Cassie Strathman, an exceptional LPN who is about to begin her career as an RN in our Emergency Department. Cassie consistently demonstrates clinical excellence, compassion, and a proactive spirit that truly sets her apart. Recently, while caring for a critically ill infant with a chronic health condition in our ER, Cassie caught a potentially life-threatening error. She noticed that the baby's weight had been entered in kilograms instead of pounds, which drastically impacted the dosing calculations for both medications and IV fluids. Thanks to her quick thinking and attention to detail, Cassie caught the mistake before the child received any incorrectly dosed treatments. Her actions directly protected the patient from harm and exemplified the vigilance and critical thinking that save lives.

Beyond this incident, Cassie is known for always staying a step ahead. She anticipates her team's needs and often completes tasks before others even realize they are needed. Her presence on a shift is a true asset; she is supportive, dependable, and constantly looking out for both her patients and her coworkers. As she transitions into her new role as an RN, our ER is gaining not only a skilled nurse but also a compassionate and thoughtful leader. Cassie is the kind of nurse who makes a lasting difference, and I can think of no one more deserving of the DAISY Award. She has made a difference on every shift she works with me and our team, with her amazing attitude and her ability to anticipate our needs and help out every time. Her positive attitude and willingness to learn and assist with anything are much appreciated.
