Cassie was so sweet and caring and really helped us through a difficult time. We can't thank her enough.
Cassie was our nurse the first and second night our father was admitted to 4 West. He wasn't in such great shape, and we weren't really sure what was going on with him at first. She took her time to explain everything she was doing and made sure he was comfortable. I was able to leave at night knowing he was going to be cared for. She called me when there was no other option but to use arm restraints and assured me they would remove them as soon as it was reasonable. She was so understanding and knew that the difficult patient was not really the person my father was.
The second night, I was so relieved to see Cassie again. Dad had improved, and she was genuinely happy. She got Dad the silly-looking green boots to prevent pressure sores. Dad has been hospitalized many times, and I never knew they existed. She made sure he had a DNR and a DNI bracelet - something else I never saw. I asked her if these were "new" and was told they were not, but that she thought it was important for her patients. Cassie was off, and then Dad was moved to 4 North and then put on Hospice. I was already going to fill this out to commend Cassie's kindness, competency, and compassion. When I found out she came to see me to check up on us during her next shift, my sister was with Dad and let me know. As we sat here under Hospice Care, Cassie stopped in to check in with us and share some stories of her grandmother. Cassie was so sweet and caring and really helped us through a difficult time. We can't thank her enough.
