March 2026 Honoree
Cassandra Hooyman, BSN, CEN
Today I am commending Nurse Cassie because the care she showed our daughter meant more to our family than words can fully express.
During a difficult and miserable time while J was experiencing a severe allergic reaction, Cassie treated her like she was her own. She listened to our concerns when we felt like no one else had answers and went the extra mile to help when we had been told by other places that there was nothing more that could be done.
But what truly stood out was the compassion she showed our daughter. Cassie loved on her, spoiled her with snacks and drinks, and even took her to look at toys to help distract her during those tough two-year-old tantrums that come when a little one just doesn’t feel good. In the middle of a stressful situation, she found ways to bring comfort, smiles, and calm to our daughter. And her kindness didn’t stop there. When we accidentally left without our paperwork, she chased us down in the parking lot to make sure we had everything we needed—and to say one more goodbye to J.
Cassie reminded us of what nursing is truly about: compassion, advocacy, and treating patients like family. We will never forget the care she gave to our little girl when she needed it most.
Thank you, Cassie, for making such a difference in our lives.
