Cassy went above and beyond helping me care for this patient, while she was still managing her own patient load and helping other patients schedule their future visits in the clinic.
I had a patient added to my schedule for an IV start for CT scan and to collect labs. When the patient arrived at the clinic, she expressed to Cassy that she was unable to remain in her wheelchair, as she was in a terrible amount of pain. Cassy assisted the patient into a private room, helped her into the bed, and then got her blankets to keep her comfortable. The patient was to drink two bottles of water for her CT scan. She was unable to do that, given the condition she was currently in. Cassy then went over to the radiation department to inform the team of the patient's needs. Radiation still wanted the patient to get some water in her bladder to ensure a good image from CT scan. Cassy would go into the patient's room often to help her take small sips of water frequently. When radiation came to take the patient over for her CT scan, Cassy assisted them with getting the patient back into her wheelchair and then escorted the patient over to radiation. When she was done with her CT scan, radiation brought the patient back to the infusion room, and immediately, Cassy was right there to help assist me get her back into bed. The patient was incontinent, and Cassy was right there ready to help me with anything this patient needed. Cassy went above and beyond helping me care for this patient, while she was still managing her own patient load and helping other patients schedule their future visits in the clinic. Whenever the patient would apologize to us, Cassy would remind her she had nothing to be sorry for and that we were here to help her. She provided SO MUCH compassion, love, care, and SO MUCH EMPATHY for this patient! Cassy is beyond deserving of the DAISY Award!
