July 2026 Honoree
Casey Steines, RN
I nominate Casey Steines for a DAISY Award in recognition of the compassionate, skilled care she provides to Veterans in our outpatient wound care clinic at VAPHS. Casey consistently goes above and beyond to make patients feel seen, heard, and supported during a painful, stressful, and prolonged healing process. She combines exceptional clinical knowledge with patience and kindness, carefully explaining wound-care plans, answering questions, and ensuring each patient understands how to care for their wound at home. Her compassion is especially evident with patients facing complex wounds, limited mobility, chronic illness, or fear about their recovery. Casey treats every person with dignity and respect, never rushing an appointment and always taking the time to offer reassurance. She recognizes that wound healing affects more than physical health; it can impact independence, confidence, work, and family life, and she provides care that addresses the whole person. Casey advocates for Veterans and families, communicates clearly with providers, and helps coordinate care so that patients have the resources and follow-up they need to heal safely. Casey truly embodies the values of the DAISY Award and deserves recognition for the extraordinary care she provides to our wound care patients at VAPHS.
Thank you, Casey, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
