She was honestly a sunbeam in what has been an absolutely terrifying storm.
I have my mom and my daughter in the hospital. My daughter had emergency surgery after she saw my mom telling her, "I love you, I'm going to die," then went unresponsive. We thought it was a panic attack, but nope.
Long story short, I told this stuff to Casey, as well as explaining how my transmission just blew up in the parking garage, and I'm three hours away and newly paralyzed. This beautiful soul had my daughter and me laughing so much. She also assured us so much. I refused to let her get me ice and my daughter water because my mom was a Director of Nursing and always told me that if I heard "busyness," to just do it myself. Nope, Casey trumped me and got it with a laugh.
She was honestly a sunbeam in what has been an absolutely terrifying storm. I pray you do everything you can to keep her, because she's a seriously valuable employee. When all I could do was cry, not sleep, feel at an all-time low, she made us laugh. I can't emphasize that enough. We had so much in common with our love of gross TV shows, and she will one day advance in the medical field, which I promise she will succeed in. But make sure she still gets to have that one-on-one communication with the patients because she is so invaluable.
Today, my daughter will be discharged, but I'll be back to be with my mom once my daughter is healed. I wish I could move her to my mom's side. I hope she is acknowledged in front of everyone for the impact she had on my daughter and me in that short time. I am crying as I'm typing this bc she really did help us more than physically. She helped us emotionally, and that's not an easy task nor a necessary one, yet here she is being one of "God's favorites."
I hope to see her again one day and thank her again in person. I will forever praise God for putting her in my daughter's path so we could all meet.
Thank you, University, for having an employee named Casey!
