She was very understanding of me and how I was feeling, and never once invalidated how I was feeling. The way she walked me and my husband through everything made us feel less anxious about my baby's early arrival.
I'm a second-time mother and had my 36-week normal appointment with my OB, only to find out later that day that my water had broken and I had to be taken to labor and delivery. I was scared and worried but as soon as Casey walked in and introduced herself, I knew we were in good hands. Her energy was so warm and welcoming, everything a laboring mother could ask for in a nurse. She was very understanding of me and how I was feeling, and never once invalidated how I was feeling. The way she walked me and my husband through everything made us feel less anxious about my baby's early arrival.
I was in a lot of pain, and I could see that she could sense that, and she would constantly check up and see if I needed a break from talking or filling out forms to get through my contractions. Casey reassured me that everything that day was up to me and that I should feel safe voicing my opinions and concerns. She was very skilled in everything she did. When placing my IV, drawing my blood, and placing my catheter, she did so ever so carefully and painlessly. When it came time for my epidural she helped me relax by talking to me through the process the whole time, even when I had told her my last epidural failed she reassured me that everything this time could be different and that I could have a good experience this time and that there were other methods of pain management if the epidural were to not work. When it came time to push, she held my hand the whole time. Casey was also by my side when they had to get our pieces of my retained placenta, and she told me I could squeeze her hand as hard as I needed to.
Casey had also mentioned that her shift would be over at 11pm that night but she stayed by our side until past 11:20pm when my baby girl arrived. I can tell that this is not only her career, but caring for people is truly something she loves to do!
Rush Copley is very fortunate to have her on their team! My husband and I will forever be grateful to Casey and how she cared for us and how she went above and beyond to help us feel reassured and safe in her hands!
