The next day, she drove back to the hospital in terrible winter temps, on her day off, after working 16 hours that night instead of her 12, just to make sure we were okay and to hug us both and wish us all the best.
My wife went to the hospital for a routine delivery and things escalated in a negative way fast. Casey was our nurse, and in every way was the most professional you could be keeping me calm. My wife was rushed to emergency surgery where she nearly lost her life. She received 10 units of blood, amongst platelets and clotting agent. Overall, 15 units of material. I was seriously thinking I was going to go home and raise my new baby boy and 14-month-old daughter. I believe the staff thought the same thing.
It was very hectic, and Casey prayed with me and my wife and updated me as often as possible. I collapsed in her arms when she said she was stable. If it wasn’t for her going above and beyond the line of duty, I wouldn’t have made it without a total meltdown. I was in distress and in shock and she showed the most compassion that I’ve ever imagined.
After my wife was done with surgery, she was moved to ICU and after she got done with her shift she came back to the ICU to check on my wife and I just to give us her well wishes. I can’t even put into words how much she affected our lives and how much she deserves this award. I pray with all my heart that she receives it as it is much deserved.

Casey went above and beyond as my nurse. Not only is she an exceptional nurse but also as a person. I had some serious complications, and Casey was calm during the whole process. She displayed every quality you would want in a nurse at your facility. She took care of my family during that very scary time as much as me. She continued to check in on me during my 10 day stay. My family and I can’t thank Casey enough for all she did because without her I’m not sure I would be here today. I will forever remember her and the care I received from her. Casey is the perfect example of all this award encompasses.
