Carrie advocates for patients, especially the most vulnerable, ensuring they are cared for even when they are no longer officially hers.
Carrie was in triage when a homeless patient was discharged in the early morning hours and wheeled out to the waiting room to wait for the bus during the first cold week of the season. Noticing he had very few belongings, Carrie took the time to ask him if he had a sleeping bag to help keep him warm. When he shared that he did not, Carrie didn't hesitate to act. She asked if he would be willing to wait until 9 am while she found a solution, and he agreed. On her own time and initiative, Carrie DoorDash'd a sleeping bag for him and made sure he had a warm blanket and a box lunch to eat while he waited. Her actions went far beyond her role in triage; she recognized a human need and met it with empathy, dignity, and compassion.

Carrie advocates for patients, especially the most vulnerable, ensuring they are cared for even when they are no longer officially hers. She embodies what it truly means to be a caregiver at McKay Dee ER by treating patients with respect, kindness, and humanity. This moment is just one example of how Carrie lives our values while at work.
