Caroline Ward's words, actions, and professionalism have helped me to quickly return to my path of positivity.
I am presently a patient at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center. I have been a patient since my left leg amputation. I would like to nominate RN Caroline Ward for a DAISY Award. Nurse Ward has been a steel beam of support for me in my low moments and even in times I didn't even realize I needed that extra hand on my back.  I had mentally prepared myself the best I could, going into an amputation. I knew ahead of time from experience how important it was going to be to maintain positivity throughout and beyond rehabilitation. Personally, I feel that I have been holding strong with minor lapses due to sometimes unpredictable and uncontrollable cramps in the limb. The lingering pain left from the cramp is a tightness from which there seems to be no relief. Nurse Ward, seeing the pain in my face and watching the negativity sneaking into my personality, went, without me needing to ask, and emailed the on-call physician to get me a muscle relaxer. She told me she was going nowhere until this was rectified, especially since cramps and muscle tightness are fairly common in amputation patients. Caroline Ward's words, actions, and professionalism have helped me to quickly return to my path of positivity. I would like to have RN Caroline Ward recognized for the above-average care she has shown me. With immense emotion, I would truly love to see RN Caroline Ward recognized for her heart.
