I went to the ER for my first miscarriage. While I knew it was happening, it was scary and emotional. Caroline, from the moment she arrived until the end of the long 4 hours I was there, was so kind and compassionate. I have hard veins, and she made sure to only poke me once to get my IV in. She gave me wipes and pads throughout my time there to clean up, so I felt like a human and wasn't lying there in my own blood the whole time. She shared personal experiences of her friend who recently had a miscarriage, which was reassuring and helped me feel like I was going to be ok. She even provided me with extra pads to take home, so I would be covered for the night, since we were going home so late and no stores were open.

Caroline truly saw me. She treated me with such respect and dignity, never once making me feel like a burden or a bother to her. She was also kind to my husband, helping him feel calmer about the situation. She provided us with numerous educational materials to take home and reviewed a great deal of information with us in the room, so I felt confident that I had a clear understanding of everything going on. I have truly never had an ER nurse as kind and compassionate as Caroline.
