I was able to confide in Carol regarding my stressors at home and within my personal relationships.
If I had to pick a favorite nurse (which wouldn't be easy, because they're all great in Shep 3), it would be Carol. She was assigned to me on my first night at UVMMC, which made the transition from the ED to Shep 3 much easier and more comfortable than I could have imagined. Carol got to know me pretty well right off. I instantly noticed her caring - and protective nature - over her patients. I was able to confide in Carol regarding my stressors at home and within my personal relationships. She has this way of giving you her no-bullcrap opinion while remaining so kind. I always looked forward to her being assigned to me. Carol helped me discover an outlet I could use in place of drugs and alcohol. From day 1, I began exercising for 30 minutes - 1 hour a day (an INCREDIBLE addition to this facility FYI) on the floor rec/gym room. We talked a lot about the positive impact a little cardio has on my mood and overall well-being. I will be continuing to work out once I leave UVMMC. I literally cannot run out of great things to say about Carol, UVMMC is lucky to have her as an employee - any hospital would be. I'm pretty sure that every unit in this hospital needs a 'Carol' on their floor. She has been a part of my recovery and I'm so thankful. Thanks again!
