How comforting it was to have someone who didn’t make all that we were going through any more of an issue, so we didn’t feel like a number but like individual people.
My husband was admitted to the ICU for low blood pressure following his chemo regimen. We had an amazing experience and wanted to let you know how much we both appreciated Carmen's professionalism, bedside manner, competence, and incredible attitude. How comforting it was to have someone who didn’t make all that we were going through any more of an issue, so we didn’t feel like a number but like individual people. Her calm, confident attitude went so far with us. It helped us not feel like we were an inconvenience or a bother. It also helped make an uncomfortable and potentially embarrassing situation feel like less of a big deal. Effectively restoring dignity in an undignified situation. When a patient must go through so many physical, mental, and emotional situations for the first time, I can’t state how far it goes to be treated with compassion and respect. We want to express our gratitude for a job expertly done. It did not go unnoticed. Please share our gratitude with this nurse.

This nurse was my day nurse all 3 days. She was kind and attentive; explained multiple procedures and medications I needed; covered everything I needed to know on discharge; responded quickly to my needs; smiled throughout my stay; explained everything to my family as well; and is the best nurse I have ever met. I worked as the Coordinator of Library Services at the local community college (MTCC) for 20 years and met many of the RNs we trained. This nurse tops them all. She is an outstanding example of her profession and a joy, and she deserves kudos for her work. I have known about the DAISY Award for years, having lung and other issues before this A-fib with RVR, but this is the first time I have been compelled to honor a nurse for her devotion and professionalism. Thank you for this opportunity to recognize her.
