During the pandemic, Mrs. Jones showed integrity by always being a pillar of strength to her colleagues, staff, and patients, and whenever times were tough, Mrs. Jones was there to help guide the way and to reassure everyone that all would be ok.
We would like to nominate Carlene Jones, Head Nurse of Geriatrics, for the DAISY Leader Award. Mrs. Jones has been in many roles in the past ~28 years at Metropolitan Hospital, including inpatient Med surge, Occupational Health Service, and joined the Amb Care team in 1996 when she graciously accepted the position of head nurse for our Primary Care Adult Outpatient Practice. Mrs. Jones now serves as the head nurse for Geriatrics, the accountable care organization, and assists with many other initiatives.  Mrs. Jones exhibits excellence by creating an environment for all to feel safe, cared for, and guided under her direction.

Mrs. Jones is described by her team as a wonderful mentor to our new head nurses and takes the time to ensure their success. Mrs. Jones is a great leader and displays compassion by always going above and beyond to ensure staff and patients are supported, and are a high priority to Mrs. Jones. In addition to her work at Metropolitan, Mrs. Jones volunteers along with her church to provide relief to Caribbean Countries in severe need of help. Mrs. Jones does this by providing food, clothing, and other necessities alongside her congregation. Frequently, you will see Mrs. Jones picking up breakfast for staff or visiting the different units to check on how people are doing. During the pandemic, Mrs. Jones showed integrity by always being a pillar of strength to her colleagues, staff, and patients, and whenever times were tough, Mrs. Jones was there to help guide the way and to reassure everyone that all would be ok. You will often see Mrs. Jones searching for items to help patients keep themselves well, whether it be educational, clothing, or information on resources; she takes the extra time to make sure everyone has what they need. Who better to be nominated for this award than our own Mrs. Jones, who moves through the organization, touching everyone she comes into contact with.

Although Mrs. Jones' favorite assignment is taking care of her grandson, she has also devoted time to her extended work family and is now the Supervisor of Nursing to Family Medicine, Dental, and our new Pride Health Center. Mrs. Jones has demonstrated professionalism, accountability, support, and friendship to our team and the Metropolitan Hospital family. These are just a few of the reasons we are asking the committee to consider Mrs. Jones for this prestigious award. Thank you very much for your consideration.
