An unsung hero in the ER, Carla works tirelessly to ensure that her patients and her coworkers are receiving the best care they can. She always comes in with a smile and a hug and a story of her adventures that you just can't make up!

Even after twenty years dedicated to this place, Carla remains committed to the highest quality care. Recently, Carla even had a patient write in to say that she was "a gem. Her sense of humor and ability to make you feel like you're genuinely cared for and understood, no matter what. Please give her nurse of the year or something."

 Another patient shouted her praises, stating, "She was wonderful with [my child]. She helped make a little play spot on the floor for us while we were there for observation. And brought [him] toys."

I have seen time and again where Carla takes an extra few minutes to make sure her patient is comfortable, sits down with patients to share in their joys and sorrows, and tirelessly advocates for her patients. Her spunk brings a vitality to the unit, and I truly enjoy working with her.

Because of all these qualities, and many more than I can list, Carla deserves to be recognized as one of the hidden stars of the ER and an extraordinary nurse.
