Carla, you are a nurse absolutely brimming with compassion and dedication. You are someone who goes the extra mile, a real beacon of hope for your patients.
The difference that Carla made was her attentiveness to my needs. I appreciate the fact that she asked every time she walked into the room how I was feeling and if I needed anything. More importantly, she was always willing to discuss today’s plan and kept me informed of what was going on and the decisions that were being made as far as my medical health.

I first met Carla in April 2025 when I was admitted, and her care was nothing short of exceptional. She tended to me with grace, consistency, and deep compassion. She always ensured I was clean, something that matters immensely to me, as I have difficulty bathing myself, and she anticipated my needs so well that I never once had to press the nurse call button while she was caring for me. She meticulously managed my medications, continuously checked my vitals, and made me feel truly seen and cared for.
Now I’m back in the hospital in August, Carla is not even assigned to me, yet the moment she found out I was here, she came to my room to check on me and say hello. That alone is extraordinary, but what touched me most was when she told me I reminded her of her mom. That personal connection and the tenderness in her approach meant more than words can fully express.
Carla is a hard worker who doesn’t let shift times define her dedication. Even after night shifts, she would stop by to ensure I had everything I needed, water, proper breathing support for my CPAP, and that I was comfortable. She made sure my daughters were kept informed whenever doctors or specialists visited, so they could be part of the conversation and advocate on my behalf if needed. She stays on top of all my medications and always takes the time to check in, just to make sure I’m okay, not because she has to, but because she cares.
Carla’s combinations of clinical skills, proactive attention, and genuine humanity make her stand out. Her care honors the very essence of what nursing should be-compassionate, patient-centered, and consistent. I’m sure I’m not the only patient who has felt the impact of her passion and commitment. Recognizing Carla with a DAISY award would be a heartfelt acknowledgement of the difference she makes every single day.
