I am honored to nominate the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Team at Ephrata Community Hospital for the DAISY Team Award in recognition of the extraordinary, compassionate care they provide to patients and families during some of the most critical moments of their lives.
The Cath Lab team exemplifies clinical excellence and skilled, compassionate care in every patient encounter. Whether responding to emergent STEMI activations, performing complex cardiac interventions, or supporting patients through diagnostic procedures, this team works seamlessly to deliver safe, timely, and evidence-based care. Their ability to remain calm, focused, and highly coordinated under pressure reflects the very essence of DAISY’s mission to honor the super-human work nurses do every day.
The impact of their care is powerfully reflected in patient and family feedback, which consistently includes statements such as, “This was the best care anywhere,” “You literally saved my life,” and “I can’t thank you enough for what you did for my family and me.” These words speak not only to the lifesaving technical expertise of the team but also to the kindness, dignity, and reassurance they provide in moments of fear and vulnerability.
The Cath Lab team also demonstrates extraordinary commitment and professionalism through their willingness to take emergency calls at all hours. Nights, weekends, and holidays do not deter them from answering the call when minutes matter most. Their dedication ensures that patients in the community have access to emergent cardiac care whenever it is needed.
In true DAISY spirit, this team consistently shows collaboration and teamwork beyond their own department. During times of census surges or staffing challenges, they readily assist other areas of the hospital, putting the needs of patients and colleagues first and strengthening the culture of support throughout the organization.
The team’s commitment to lifelong learning and excellence is evident in ongoing education, the adoption of new technologies, and the continuous improvement of practice. They also extend their compassion beyond hospital walls through community outreach and education, reinforcing trust and promoting heart health in the community they serve.
