I have had a very bad experience with recovery from orthopedic surgeries in the past, once going last of the day, so the nurses just wanted to push me out the door so they could go home. I was very worried that I would have to deal with something like that again, but I got incredibly lucky with Cara. Cara is the exact opposite of all my previous experiences; she has been so kind and patient throughout my whole stay, and I could not be more grateful. I have bothered her endlessly with requests for pain meds, new ice, bathroom trips just to wash my face, and even to complain about things she can't fix, yet every time she answers with a smile on her face, and somehow, she has the answers to all my ridiculous problems. She has been so attentive and makes me feel like a real person, not just another patient she's forced to take care of. Small things like that make a world of difference when you are stuck in bed and completely reliant on others to do anything, and I cannot thank her enough for that. She has made the last couple of days just a little bit better, and I can say I wouldn't be in a good place mentally if it weren't for her. She is so amazing, compassionate, funny, and hardworking, and I am only one of her several patients, but I'm sure the rest would agree with me on this one. I think Cara deserves recognition for being an amazing nurse and for the positive impact she has had on me and my recovery during one of the hardest times in my life.
