Caoimhne consistently goes above and beyond for her patients, treating everyone with the same respect and empathy, no matter how complex or emotional the circumstances.
I would like to nominate Clinical Nurse Manager Caoimhne for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional compassion, professionalism, and leadership in caring for patients and their families on a private ward. As the oncology physiotherapist working closely with Caoimhne, I have witnessed first-hand the genuine kindness and humanity she brings to her role. Two patients in particular come to mind, J and P, whose end-of-life care highlighted the depth of Caoimhne’s dedication. J, at the best of times, could be a challenging patient, but Caoimhne never treated him any differently. She showed him respect and humour, always finding a way to bring a smile to his face. With P, Caoimhne’s compassion and professionalism were extraordinary. I will never forget the calm and care she showed during an extremely difficult situation when P passed away. Caoimhne immediately took charge with quiet dignity and ensured P was cared for, cleaned, and laid out so her family could have a peaceful final memory. The sensitivity she displayed toward P’s mother, O, partner E, and the wider family during that heartbreaking time was remarkable. Caoimhne consistently goes above and beyond for her patients, treating everyone with the same respect and empathy, no matter how complex or emotional the circumstances. I am privileged to work alongside her.
