When I came to the alcohol treatment program, I was drowning in depression and anxiety, ready to kill myself. I felt my life was over, with no hope of living. But I met Nurse Candy. She began talking to me. Telling me that as long as I have a breath in my body, I can make it. I couldn't believe that at first. She said your a Navy Veteran and I'm not going to let you drown.

She respected me, though I wanted to commit suicide. She found me daily and was committed to encouraging me to lift my head up and be the man God intended for me to be. I started to trust her and have confidence in her and the things she said to me.

She fought for my medication when others bypassed it. She advocated for my whole being spiritually, mentally, and physically. Her commitment to me showed me that someone cares, through her commitment, empathy, and faith in me.

I eventually grew more and more. My family saw a big difference in me and was amazed. They asked me what happened, and I told them about Nurse Candy and her commitment. My family loves the new me.
