Candace is 100% a patient advocate. She is never afraid to voice her concerns for a patient’s welfare. Candace goes above and beyond by contacting families, facilities, and any other entity/person that can help make a patient’s life better. I work beside her and have noted her questioning orders, asking questions to better understand why a patient does not qualify for a transfer/treatments, and talking to families about placements, home care, community resources, etc. She is always one to come find me, as the acting case manager on the unit, and voice her concerns. She has helped with patients’ animals when they voice concerns about their beloved pets while they are in the hospital. She gives 100% of her heart to her patients and does it with a smile, time and time again.

There are not enough words to describe her passion for patient advocacy. Recently, she voiced concerns about a nursing facility and the lack of care they were giving to a patient. She met with the administrator and the intake coordinator of the facility, and was consistent in her concerns and explained why she had legitimate concerns. I was a part of that meeting and was proud to say I work next to Candace. She stood up for a patient who could not voice their own concerns. Candace did not back down when the facility tried to defend their wrongdoings. It is an honor to work with the great staff here, and Candace deserves the recognition.
