Camille Sacchini made a meaningful difference in a patient’s care through her compassionate response to a highly sensitive and urgent situation. During clinic, a patient expressed suicidal ideation in an internal pool message, sharing thoughts that required immediate attention beyond routine clinical care. Camille recognized the seriousness of the situation and responded with calm professionalism, empathy, and urgency.

She took the time to listen to the patient without judgment, ensuring they felt heard, safe, and supported during a very vulnerable moment. Camille carefully explained next steps, reassured the patient that help was available, and partnered closely with Orthopedics leadership and appropriate support teams to coordinate care and ensure the patient had access to the resources they needed. Throughout the process, she demonstrated discretion, humility, and deep respect for the patient’s dignity.

Because of Camille’s thoughtful and intentional approach, the patient was supported through a critical moment and connected to the right care team for the next step in their care. Her intentionality reflects the very heart of nursing and had a lasting impact not only on the patient, but also on the care teams that witnessed her professionalism and compassion in action.
