She shared she was a relatively new graduate nurse, but her bedside manner and skills were beyond her days of experience!
I finished up my shift in the ICU at 7 pm and called my husband on the way home. Immediately I could tell by the sound of his voice he was in pain. He had been having abdominal pain since 2 pm that day that had progressively gotten worse. After being checked in, he was taken to a room. Cameron greeted us with a comforting smile. She was efficient with her work and expeditiously got labs and started an IV. During the evening of tests, she kept us updated on what was expected to be next and checked on my husband frequently. She shared she was a relatively new graduate nurse, but her bedside manner and skills were beyond her days of experience! She went out of her way to explain medications, reassess, and ensure he was comfortable. This also provided comfort to me whether she realized it or not. Understandably I was worried about my normally very healthy husband in the very rooms I had admitted patients from earlier in the day. Thankfully he was ok. I know from looking around the ER that night that she was very busy, but I never felt her rush while she was in the room. She was so kind, thoughtful, and conscientious! As a Nurse Practioner, it made me feel proud of her and the care she delivered. She is a tremendous asset to WL ED, Cone Health, and Nursing as a profession.
