Camelia is a wonderful, wonderful nurse. Truly special.
Camelia took excellent and above-standard care of me personally during my time at the infusion center. However, there was a gentleman who was receiving IV treatment alongside me. I am so grateful to see such a caring human working in healthcare in real time!

As it turns out, it was the gentleman’s final chemotherapy treatment for his cancer. He was done! Camelia didn't have much to give him since she was just filling in for the day, but she made him feel special by making him a mocktail with a little umbrella from the metal cover of the drink. Very, very wholesome! Then, when she came back, she blew up a balloon from a glove and drew a happy face on it. He seemed so shy at first, but he was so happy to have gotten it. He started tearing up. It was like he was a little boy or something! Mind you, this man is a veteran who must be at least in his 80s. It was so cute!

Anyways, Camelia, the gentleman's wife, and I started clapping and cheering for him, very loudly! We took photos of him and photos of the couple together. It was such a special, special moment. My mother passed away last year from cancer, seeing how Camelia treated this man made me feel just so gleeful. I wish we could have done it for my mom, but I am blessed to have seen someone else survive. Camelia is a wonderful, wonderful nurse. Truly special. Even though she didn't have much with her, her personality, intellect, and her quickness to create something special from something seemingly nothing were truly amazing.

NGHS is very lucky to have such a fun and light-hearted person working here, all the while being the only person to stick me at NGHS without being nervous or blowing out my veins, which is a huge, huge feat! I am honored to have been taken care of by a nurse like her! All nurses should be looking at her. You don't need to overwhelm yourself, spend boatloads of money, or even do a backflip to be awesome. Doing the incredible can sometimes be done on a random Thursday at 7 AM on the fly!

This is Camelia's second DAISY Award!
