We will never forget his calm presence and the precious reassurance he gave us at the very worst of times, and cannot ever thank him enough for helping us, while still taking care of our daughter.
Our daughter was admitted to the ICU with severe sepsis. My husband and I flew to Dublin from our home in Luxembourg two days later, on medical advice, as her organs had started to fail. We visited her directly from the airport, getting there around midnight, when Caleb was her nurse on the night shift. He was the first person we met in the ICU, and he was outstanding. His calm, reassuring professionalism put us at ease as he explained the machines and meds she was on and how they were helping her. Thanks to Caleb, we immediately felt that she was in the best hands, in the best place, and receiving the best care possible. Although Caleb was typical of the many wonderful nurses and doctors we met over the next 5+ weeks on the ICU, he remains extremely special to us, and we would love to see him receive formal recognition for what a great nurse he is. We will never forget his calm presence and the precious reassurance he gave us at the very worst of times, and cannot ever thank him enough for helping us, while still taking care of our daughter. We so appreciated just being able to see her again, even though we weren't sure we would arrive in time, but Caleb turned what we thought would be our farewell into a moment of hope. And she was finally discharged after 73 days in St James.
