He is an asset to this hospital, to his profession, and to the veterans that are seen here.
I was in the hospital due to a heart attack and exceptionally high blood sugar from diabetes. I was in a great deal of pain. The preceding shift had ignored my request for pain medication for over an hour. When Caleb came on shift, I was very angry and very agitated. I am also bipolar, very badly bipolar, and quite frankly, I was screaming obscenities. I was yelling at him. I was threatening. I was going off due to the pain and the anger of having been ignored. He never let that get to him. He remained calm; he calmed me down. He didn't hold it against me or judge me. It was very professional once he calmed me down. He told me step by step what he was gonna, followed through, and kept me informed. He went and contacted the doctor and got me pain medication. That pain medication did not work.

Because of his thoroughness and rechecking with me, he realized the pain medication wasn't working. He verified this with me and contacted the doctor again. And got a different medication, which also didn't work. And again, because of his thoroughness, professionalism, and care, he contacted the doctor again. The doctor then ordered morphine, which finally subsided the pain. I had been in the hospital a couple of days and had barely slept due to the pain. I was finally able to get some sleep. He continued to check on them throughout the night. Even in my sleep, he would wake me to make sure I was ok. I was breathing, and you know everything else. He never judged me. He is just an excellent nurse. He is an asset to this hospital, to his profession, and to the veterans that are seen here. He deserves this award. He deserves my apology, although he left before I could give it. He is an excellent nurse. He has an excellent bedside manner, and he cares for his patients.
