September 2026 Honoree
Caleb Peeler, RN
I reached the ER at 10 pm with my lower leg and foot deep red and swollen, twice their size. I was triaged and placed in an ER room. I want to tell you about a Rock Star named Caleb. Caleb was smart, attentive, and patient. He explained why each test was being run and what the results were. His bedside manner was above reproach, and his knowledge was far beyond his young years. He could keep up with any seasoned nurse. People remember how you made them feel, and Caleb made me feel like I was the only patient in the ER. He continually circled back, rounding and assessing my needs. When my heart rate spiked a little, he explained that it was indicative of the pain I was feeling. He administered a shot of Lovenox in my abdomen in case it was blood clots and ran a bag of Rocephin in case it was an infection. He explained all of that to me. He handled me with care and compassion. He did not try to minimize my reason for being in the ER because, as those who know me know, I am not a fan of being in the hospital. Instead, Caleb recognized my concerns as valid and treated me with exceptional care. He even FaceTimed my daughter in Charlotte, NC, to explain what he was doing and why. He did all of this with a pleasant, sincere smile. Luckily, I had a positive outcome, and my leg is much better. He emphasized that I needed to follow up with my PCP, and I did. I trust Caleb, and that says a lot! You must trust the person caring for you. You must trust their knowledge, abilities, and that they are there to see you well. I saw all these things in Caleb. He proved to be a nurse worthy of recognition. If the secret hasn’t been let out, then I am here to tell you. Caleb P., RN, is exceptional! He is an MVP! He’s a rock star! He is a true Phenomenon to the Nursing Profession! CMC is better because of caring, compassionate, professional nurses like Caleb. I will enjoy spreading the word!
Thank you, Caleb, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
