Caitlin Korthanke was one of our delivery nurses. She was also one of our nurses throughout most of our stay. All of the staff members were great, but she went above and beyond. She was very skilled, compassionate, and empathetic. Being a first-time mother, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had to be induced 3 weeks early due to my blood pressure being elevated. She was very positive and encouraging, during the whole process. After he was born, he was rushed out of the room. The whole situation was scary. She was great with communication and reassurance. He had to be on the bi-pap for the first couple nights we were there. After that we started having issues with his blood sugar and jaundice levels. It seemed like one thing after another, and it was all overwhelming. She was very supportive and gave us constant updates. When he was finally good enough to go home, it only lasted for a day before he had to be readmitted because his bilirubin jumped up to 223. He had to spend another night in the incubator. I don't think she was our nurse when we were admitted, but she was sure to stop in and see how we were doing. I think the thing I appreciate the most about her is that she offered to take photos during the delivery. It wasn't something I even thought about doing. I'm really glad to have those photos. I cherish them every day. They will help make one of our favorite memories last a lifetime.
