Brooke Jensen, RN

Waking up alone in the hospital for the first time filled me with dread and anxiety. When I met Brooke Jensen, she opened our conversation in a way that both calmed my anxieties and made me feel seen not just as a patient, but as a person. She was the one who explained my rights as a patient. Much to my surprise, she matched my kind of over-the-top personality; her movie references, the jokes she would crack, and the way she got excited by the stickers on my laptop made me feel much less alone.

Brooke went out of her way to find me real clothes and better menstrual products when I complained. She made me feel human again as my pancreatitis was kicking me down. This all alone made me want to nominate Brooke, but later that day I found out I'm claustrophobic in the MRI. I have not had a panic attack so bad in my life compared to that one I had in that MRI. She held me, used silly analogies to explain my symptoms, used rain and thunder to distract me, shared fun facts, talked to me like a person, and explained how she personally relates. She managed to do so much with so much on her plate, being the supervisor on top of it all. Brooke really made me feel not like I had a nurse yesterday, but like I had a true friend for the day.
