Brooke Boyer, RN
As a first-time dad, I walked into the delivery room excited, but also nervous and unsure of what to expect. Brooke Boyer immediately made me feel like I was part of the team. She didn’t just care for my wife—she cared for our entire family. There were moments during labor when our daughter’s heart rate experienced decelerations, and those were some of the scariest moments of my life. Brooke was honest with us about what was happening while staying incredibly calm and in control. She explained what she was doing, answered my questions, and acted quickly to keep both my wife and daughter safe. Watching her work gave me confidence during moments when I felt completely helpless.
What stood out most to me was how much Brooke genuinely cared. She took the time to get to know us, joked with us when we needed a distraction, and made us feel like we were more than just another room on her assignment. She built a connection with us that made one of the biggest days of our lives feel personal and special. Even after her shift was over, Brooke stayed to continue caring for my wife through the delivery of our daughter. She never acted like she was watching the clock or eager to leave. Instead, she remained by my wife’s side, encouraging her through every push and celebrating every milestone with us. Seeing someone choose to stay because they cared so deeply about their patients meant more than I can put into words.
One of the greatest gifts Brooke gave us was taking incredible photos during our daughter’s birth. Those pictures captured moments that my wife and I would have otherwise missed while we were focused on meeting our daughter. They are memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives, and every time we look at them, we’ll remember Brooke’s kindness. I’ll never forget the moment our daughter was born or the role Brooke played in bringing her safely into the world. She made me feel supported as a husband, reassured me as a new father, and gave my wife the confidence she needed during labor.
Brooke turned what could have been one of the most frightening days of our lives into one filled with trust, hope, and joy. She represents everything a nurse should be, and our family will always be grateful for the care, compassion, and dedication she showed us. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of a DAISY Award.
