Brittney works in the ER some days and is well known. It was like she took charge and knew what to do to give the best of care- she brought the EKG machine, quickly covered me with a warm blanket, and stayed while tests were started, blood drawn, etc.
I was sent to Forsyth Hospital- Winston Salem, NC from TCRH with high heart enzymes, shoulder pain, and high blood pressure, suspecting a light heart attack. Dr. H with Novant Health did a heart catheterization and found some blockages, but decided to treat them with medicine, feeling I should have some good active years. I could have stents if my family wanted.

The Director of Twin County Cardia Rehab called me and set me up to exercise three times per week, and now I have done this for three months (36 sessions). I am continuing in Phase 3. After several sessions, I was exercising and noticed feeling uncomfortable, so I told my RN, Brittney McMickle. She would check me before starting, twice during exercise, and at the end of each session. So she checked me and found my blood pressure high (180 or 190 over 105 to 220), and I was feeling very uncomfortable in my chest and back. She got others involved, and they insisted that I go to the ER and be checked and tested. I mentioned my regular doctor, but they insisted I go to the ER. With six women around me- I lost the battle and agreed to go 500 feet away.

It was amazing and extraordinary to see my wonderful and compassionate nurse, Brittney, walking over to care for me. This TLE is above and beyond and very much appreciated. Brittney made an enormous difference in my care and recovery that day in the ER:

Brittney alerted them, and as I walked in, they asked if I was Mr. S and said, "We're waiting on you."

Brittney came out of the ER within a minute and took me back to a room in the ER she had ready.

I went home a few hours later with no heart attack. For sure, I went by Twin County Cardiac Rehab and showed much appreciation. I was now hooked. I feel Twin County Cardiac Rehab may well have saved my life. I certainly feel that this department is so good because of their staff. Brittney is special. I have heard sheriff deputies who bring rough people to the ER say Brittney is smart.

The Cardiac Rehab department also deserves recognition for the great job they are doing. They are qualified, caring, friendly, and just awesome. Not only the exercise or physical needs but the encouragement mentally as I look so forward to going there and spending time with them. They are healers indeed.

I love my buddies. Thank you.
