She asked for Brittany by her name over everyone on the unit because Brittany sat down and took the time to understand her and the situation.
Brittany Rothermich is a current traveler at Belleville Memorial Hospital with HCTN/NTN. Brittany has been an RN since 2015 with charge experience and she is now on her very first traveling assignment. Brittany goes out of her way to make her patients feel safe and cared for. Everyone that I talk to about Brittany has an abundance of wonderful things to say about her; not only her loving personality glows in their statements, but her hard work and drive shine through in every conversation. Brittany picks up and covers night shifts when she is contracted days, which travelers are there to cover but she does so without questioning it. She has stepped up as a Charge RN on her traveling assignment when no one else was capable of doing so.

Brittany is a mother of 1 and soon to be 2, as well as a wonderful wife. She left staff nursing to advance her skill set as an RN and to help support her family all during the pandemic. While growing her family Brittany chose to be selfless as always and put others before herself helping a facility that is understaffed without blinking an eye. She was formerly a charge RN at HSHS St. Elizabeth and thrived doing so on the Tele/PCU unit always dropping everything to help others, whether that be her colleagues or her patients.

Below I have collected some statements from only a few of Brittany’s colleagues and some examples of Brittany’s exemplary patient care and attitude. I am proud to have the opportunity to work with her!

I wanted to take the time to write to you to recommend Brittany Rothermich for the DAISY Award. She is an RN that works the same unit as I do at Memorial Hospital. We started the same week, both as travelers on the unit. She jumped right in and got to work. She often checks in on me to make sure I am doing ok. She is the first to help me whenever I need it. She has excellent problem-solving skills and is a great critical thinker. She comes to work every day with a smile and makes sure that everyone around her feels appreciated. Her patients are well taken care of. She acts as a great patient advocate and is very keen to notice changes in condition quickly and taking appropriate steps to ensure positive outcomes. She is quite flexible and diverse in her schedule and skills. She has worked both day and night shifts to help the unit meet staffing demands. She has even acted as the charge nurse when no one else was able or willing to. A great asset to the facility, her coworkers, and the patients she serves.

Brittany is always very ready to help her team if asked. I think it made her a good charge RN at our former employment HSHS St. Elizabeth. She is absolutely a team player.

Brittany is one of the best RN’s I have ever worked with. She’s always thorough and attentive. She makes sure to establish a relationship with all of her patients. I’ve never seen Brittany without a smile on her face at work. She is always willing to help everyone whenever she can.

I worked with Brittany a few weeks back and I had this combative patient who wanted to leave AMA and did not want to talk to me or the charge RN at the time. Brittany came along and was gentle and very calming and talked to this lady. The patient allowed Brittany to do everything and was super compliant with Brittany. She asked for Brittany by her name over everyone on the unit because Brittany sat down and took the time to understand her and the situation.
