Brittany didn’t just take care of my mom’s medical needs — she cared for her heart, her spirit, and her dignity.
I am nominating Brittany on floor 7K for the DAISY Award because she cared for my mom and for my family — in a way that I will remember for the rest of my life. My mom was admitted with a still unknown brain lesion, and our entire world felt like it had been shaken. We were scared, overwhelmed, and drowning in uncertainty. And then Brittany walked into the room. From the very first moment, she wrapped us in a sense of safety that we desperately needed. She was kind in a way that felt genuine and deeply human. She was compassionate in every interaction, noticing every small detail about my mom and responding with patience, gentleness, and unwavering presence. Her confidence and her perfectly timed humor lifted burdens we didn’t even realize we were carrying. Brittany didn’t just take care of my mom’s medical needs — she cared for her heart, her spirit, and her dignity. And she did the same for our family. She made sure we were comfortable. She answered every question, no matter how big or small. She offered encouragement on the hardest days and stood with us in the moments when the unknown felt overwhelming. In my 20 years in healthcare — as a floor nurse, charge nurse, house supervisor, and now an advanced practice provider — I have worked alongside many incredible nurses, but Brittany truly stands apart. In the most uncertain moments of my mom’s life, she gave us peace. She gave us hope. She reminded us what compassionate nursing looks like at its absolute best. Brittany, you wowed us. You touched our hearts. And you made a difference in a way that words will never fully capture. Thank you for being a treasure to LSU, to your patients, and to every family lucky enough to cross your path. But mostly, thank you for being the treasure you were to our family.
